Brandon He/Him Major: English Literature 1st-Year Consultant 2nd-year Office Assistant Lead Consultant Hi! My name is Brandon and I am an English major and Communication and Media minor (I also participated in the University Honors Program under the Intellectual Traditions track, and now serve as a mentor for new students), and I am graduating from Seattle University at the end of this year. My hometown is Los Angeles, so after moving to Seattle for school, I have begun to really appreciate the sunny days we get! I am basically always listening to music, and some of my favorite artists are BTS, Laufey, SZA, Selena Quintanilla, wave to earth, TXT, Colde, Ella Fitzgerald, Kali Uchis, and LE SSERAFIM. Yes, I know its a lot but that took a lot of narrowing down! I love going to cafes, watching my favorite comfort TV shows, reading, seeing all of the dogs that walk around campus, and trying new food! I look forward to meeting you all and having awesome discussions about writing! Aliza She/Her Major: Film 1st-Year Consultant Hi, my name is Aliza! I'm a 4th-year film major and this is my first year as a writing center consultant. I love watching movies (especially horror), board games, and playing the drums. I'm excited to work with you! Jo She/They Major: School Psychology 1st-Year Graduate Consultant Hey everyone! My name is Jo, and I am a graduate student here at SU studying School Psychology! I love writing, and I love reading other people's writing (fiction, nonfiction, essays, etc.). I am originally from Michigan, where I completed my undergraduate degree, and I recently moved to Seattle. Outside of work, I love to be outdoors and active in any way I can! I love hiking, running, swimming, and exploring different parts of nature. I also love reading and would love to take your reading recommendations! I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia before moving to Seattle. If I'm not talking to you about writing, my attention is devoted to fiction podcasts, playing tabletop games like D&D 5e, or going to the aquarium. I'm so excited to work with the Writing Center and the SU community!! What I like most about writing: "My favorite part about writing is taking a concept from a developmental stage with a loose outline into a first draft. I love working with writing that is honest, as many first drafts are." - Madden Pooja She/Her Major: Master of Science in Accounting and Analytics (MSAA) 1st-Year Graduate Consultant Hi there! I'm Pooja Singh, an Accounting and Analytics Graduate Student with a passion for finance and a flair for writing. Currently pursuing my Master's at Seattle University, I bring expertise in corporate finance, risk management, and financial statement analysis. In my free time, I enjoy playing outdoor sports like badminton, swimming, and river rafting so that I can remain active and connected with nature. I'm eager to collaborate with you all soon! Riley She/They major: Computer Science Minor: Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies 1st-year consultant Hi! I'm Riley, a third-year at SeattleU. I am originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and will claim my Midwestern core all the way, but Seattle is home now. I am thrilled to be working as a consultant to collaborate with peers and find comfort in writing. Cara She/They Major: Civil Engineer 2nd-year consultant Hello!! My name is Cara and I'm a third-year civil engineering student with an environmental science minor. I grew up in the Seattle area and I love to hike, draw, cook, garden, and stare off into space. I love to talk to folks, and I especially love to talk to folks about their writing! Hope to see you at the center, I'm excited to start working with everybody! This will be my third year working in a university Writing Center, and my first year as a graduate pursuing licensure in couples' and family therapy. My passion for writing and reading came at a young age and continues into adulthood with a love for supporting other's in pursuing their academic and career interests. I especially enjoy helping people with resumes, cover letters, personal statements, and the like--including personal narratives and writing that gets your story out there. I ask lots of questions and always encourage stepping back and taking in the big picture while we pursue the details. My academic background in is environmental studies, nature connection, psychology, and human rights. I look forward to working with you! What I feel most comfortable working with: "I feel most comfortable working with essays and resumes." - Jai-Lynn Luke He/Him Major: Law 1st-Year Graduate Consultant Coming out of the University of Washington, Bothell with a double major in Law, Economics, and Public Policy and Community Psychology, I am now a full time student at the SU School of Law. In addition to my interdisciplinary academic background, I also bring the intersectional lived experience of being transgender, queer, and disabled. My long term aspiration is to become a federal public defender, but for now I am ecstatic about serving my community right here on campus. When I am not studying in the law library, you can catch me at the campus gym five days a week, or playing my guitar and writing music. I’m Rida. I graduated from Luther College with double majors in Accounting and Business Management. I am an Accounting and Analytics Graduate Student. I worked as a Research Analyst in Pakistan because I enjoy writing and helping others with their writing concerns. Some of my interests outside work and school are cooking South Asian food, playing badminton, and doing embroidery. I am also fluent in English, Urdu, and Hindi, and I will be more than happy to help you in any of these languages you feel comfortable talking in. My name is Madeline and I am a senior here at Seattle U majoring in Political Science. Despite being from Southern California I prefer the gloomy Seattle weather, especially during fall. When I'm not in class or at the writing center, I love listening to and expanding my record collection, my current obsessions being My Chemical Romance along with Radiohead, Mellow Fellow and Car Seat Headrest. My roommates call me a grandma because I love doing crafts such as knitting, crochet and sewing in addition to randomly baking things when the mood hits.
